LG Display has created a prototype of a collapsible tube of the display a diagonal of 18 inches that will be shown at the upcoming CES 2016.

Development is the result of continuous work on LG flexible, folding and curved type OLED displays. At last year’s CES LG Display showed an experimental version of the technology, but then the presentation took place behind closed doors. It seems that this year, LG Display is ready to show the world its new development.

In the past similar conceptual displays showed other renowned companies, including Sony, Samsung and Sharp, so that here we are not talking about something radically new. However, the development of the technology suggests that in these futuristic displays, the LG sees a starting point for allocation of their smartphones, tablets and televisions. LG plans regarding the use of curved displays are not limited to mobile devices and televisions. The South Korean giant is seriously considering the possibility of using such displays in cars. Visitors will be able to see such a display diagonal of 25 inches in the showroom in the automotive sector Auto Zone.

A more detailed look at the new collapsible displays and paper-thin 55-inch TV from LG will be within two days.
